Cyclone Freddy hit Mozambique in February 2023, and a second time in March, leaving homes, schools, crops, and roads damaged, areas flooded, and people displaced. Josela, a 10-year-old girl who attends English and computer classes at the Educate Mozambique Association, is one of the many affected by the cyclone. She lives with her Uncle Joaquim, and their house was damaged by the cyclone. They need a new place to live and we’re helping to rebuild.

Meet Josela
Josela is a 10 year old girl who lives in Mutua. She’s in the 6th grade at Chipinde Primary School, and attends English and computer classes at the Educate Mozambique Association.
A very cheerful and studious girl, Josela dreams of being an English teacher one day.
She lives with her uncle Joaquim. He’s 43 years old and physically disabled. He uses his hands and knees to get around. Joaquim sews shoes and repairs bicycles to make a living.
Their house is not strong, and might not make it through another storm. They need a more resilient house that could withstand another cyclone.
Our goal is to build a house for Josela that’s safe, dry, and resilient to cyclones and rain.

We have funds for Josela’s house, but there are others like her still in need. Help us raise money to rebuild more homes.
Rebuilding Josela’s House
