The JJoy Recreation Center, created through the partnership between Educate Mozambique and The JJoy Foundation (in Boston), will be a vibrant community hub for the children and families of Mutua village. It offers a safe, inclusive space for learning, play, and connection through sports, art, and community programs.
The center promotes:

Encouraging fitness and sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball, and running/racing, establishing a healthy foundation.
Community Engagement
Providing a convenient space to host events, meetings, and activities that bring people together.
Inclusive
Space
Welcoming individuals of all backgrounds, religions, and political affiliations to connect, share ideas, learn, and play safely.
- Play in unsafe, informal settings, such as streets and fields
- They lack proper equipment, which limits their opportunities for organized sports, coaching, and mentorship, hindering their development and potential.
- Have to travel long distances to access sports facilities, which is time-consuming and expensive.
- Lack access to proper equipment, uniforms, and training, putting them at a disadvantage and increasing the risk of injury.
The Rec Center is centrally located, close to homes and schools.
